Welcome to Advent of Carols from Verse Notes.

I’m Jerry Towler, and this is episode zero, where I make sure all the systems are working before I promise you 25 days of audio, because I’ve never done this before.

Every day of Advent, starting November 30th, I’m going to pick one Christmas song to think about harder than we usually do.

You see, we tend to let Christmas songs just kind of wash over us, even the hymns, and I want us to actually think about them.

Their history, their theology… we might even read the words.

And if you’ve been around VerseNotes, you know this is exactly what we do all the time.

We learn new things about the stuff we’ve read or heard all of our lives.

This is just Christmas carols instead of Bible verses.

So if you’re hearing this, congratulations.

That means my little setup is working, and so is yours.

You can find all the notes for this series and get daily reminder emails at https://versenotes.org/advent-2025.

And if you want to support this series and everything we do at Verse Notes, you can do that at https://versenotes.org/commons.

So stick around and get ready for a season of ancient melodies, unexpected stories, and above all, delight in these songs of Christmas.

See you in episode one.
